Adding a drum to a kit seems unnecessarily complicated!

I want to configure a preset like a legacy of rock kit to have two rack toms.  On my TD30 I could just make a copy of T1 and tune it down and pan it a little to the right. Done.  Why is this so hard in SD3?

What’s the right way to do this?

Are you referring to the Add Instrument button?

Hi,

I would simply right-click the Tom I wanted to copy > Alt+R / Search for Instrument > (with the Tom still selected) click ‘More’ > Add as New Instrument > Close.

Then I’d right-click the new Tom instrument > More > Route Instrument Microphones and create a New Close Mic, for the panning of the Close signal.

After that it’s just a matter of pitching it and checking that the MIDI Mapping works.

The Stereo microphones will still have the position of this copied Tom in the 1st Tom’s position but if you want to, you can create new OH, AMB, etc channels specifically for those signals for this copied Tom and pan accordingly.
