I own Superior drummer with a core kit. The Roland TD 17 is my controller.
Question: I prefer the the Superior sounds to TD 17…. however I’d like to trigger one of the pads with a percussion sound like “Bell tree” (which incidentally is included in the TD 17 sounds that I don’t use) or another misc percussion sound.
Is there a way (without spending $279 on a big orchestral kit that I wouldn’t use) to add a “Bell tree”, tambourine or other non included percussion sounds to my superior drummer kit that I can then trigger by one of my pads?
Thanks for your help,
Mitch
One quick & simple way of getting what you want is to record the percussion sounds that you are after and then import them into SD3, attaching them to a kit piece. This is what I have done with a whole bunch of “percussion” including hitting, tapping and slapping various areas on my guitar.

Superior Drummer 3 version: 3.2.4
Operating system: macOS Big Sur (11)
hi there.
In the manual section 3.4 describes importing an audio file under the Add Instrument tab. If you have a sample, you could import it and then trigger it.
Mac Studio M1 Max, RAM 64 GB, 1TB Drive, OSX 12.x/13.x and Windows 10 (VM)
DAW: Studio One Pro (always up to date)
DTX Express III (Extreme triggers), Nektar LX88
OWC Thunderbay Mini (4 X 1TB Sata SSD), Express 4M2 (4 X 2TB M.2 SSD), Envoy Express (1TB M.2 SSD)
Presonus Quantum, Faderport & Faderport 8
Black Lion Sparrow Mk2 A/D, FMR-RNP-RNC, MIDI Xpress 128, BM5A, KRK VXT4, Equator D5
2020 Macbook Pro 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD Audio(mobile rig)
Thank you! I will dig into the manual and learn how to import external sounds and attach. Much appreciated.
Ok I am halfway there! As you can see I imported a bell tree ( see picture and highlighted instrument on left) . Now I want to attach it to the rim of the high Tom.
( I know the midi # on my TD 17 changes trigger sounds). But how do I attach this bell tree to this Tom rim trigger or another pad?
When I click on it I hear it…. and when I select it ( picture 2 ) it only allows me to “add it to a hit”( which I’m not quite sure what that means) .
How do I add it to the Tom rim trigger?
Thanks again,
Mitch

Hi there,
In the same section 3.4, a bit lower down the manual talks about highlighting an instrument and using the “more” button to replace or add your sample to a specific articulation.
Sorry about the manual references, currently I am not at my rig/studio.
