I am a total amateur guitar player/songwriter and I have a few songs I wrote and recorded several years ago. The recordings consist of guitar(s) and vocals. I would like to add a drum track to them. So my question is can I have Ezdrummer 2 actually act as a virtual drummer and take what I have already recorded and “create” a drum beat based on the audio files? I have not found a way to do this, and when I try to use loops from Ezdrummer or my built-in “drummer” in my DAW (Studio One 4 Pro) eventually the beat goes off and I find myself having to constantly edit the loop to stay in time with my, unfortunate, changing tempos, which is cumbersome and offers mixed results. I have very little experience with EZDrummer, and maybe I am asking too much, but thought I would ask if it was a possibility for this or anything to actually act as a real drummer and “analyze” the song and create a drum track. Thanks and sorry for my ignorance.
Hi,
if your grooves do not stay in time, it sounds as if you haven’t recorded the other material to the tempo set in your DAW. The EZdrummer 2 plugin slaves to the tempo of the host/DAW. You’re not running the EZdrummer 2 standalone at the same time as your DAW, right?
If you create or find a base groove in EZdrummer 2, that has the basic feel you wish to have in your song, you can use the ‘Song Creator’ to come up with suggestions for your Song; either parts or the whole structure.

Hi,
So the original tracks were NOT recorded in a DAW, they were recorded using an old TASCAM Porta-studio then uploaded from the hard drive of that to my computer for use in my DAW, so not tempo was originally set!
In answer to your question, I am running EZ Drummer from within Studio One. Ok I don’t think I have tried “Song Creator”. I am assuming that is a command in EZDrummer? Again, please forgive my ignorance, as I am new to this whole DAW thing to begin with, and have never used drum software. My method in the past has been to write a song and record it the TASCAM, do some overdubs and that was about it. Thanks to all the help and rapid reply.

OK,
if you can map the Tempo in Studio One (only know how to do that in Pro Tools, sorry) so it matches the recording, EZDrummer 2 will follow.
The Song Creator is available right below the Song Track. You can drag and drop MIDI to the Creator’s MIDI Drop Zone from the Song Track or the Browser to get suggestions.
