I updated to the latest software version and the interface is really sluggish. When I go to access the drop down menu for any function, the GUI lags, almost freezes for a few seconds. I don’t like it. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I don’t think the issue is with SD3 but more so Logic (assuming you are using this) and MacOS Tahoe (based off your system specs in your signature). There is this post kinda talking about that. . .

Thanked by: myronIf I’m guessing correctly, this is a bug in macOS/Apple’s software building tools that we have reported to Apple. The bug is that mouse clicks in some scenarios will not fire until you move your mouse.
I would recommend that you contact Apple’s support directly about this, too. And please let our support know if Apple needs any additional information.
In my tests on an Intel mac, a workaround has been to use Logic 11. Some tests have indicated that running Logic 12 in Rosetta mode on Apple Silicon macs has been a workaround, too. (Right-click Logic.app > Get Info > Open using Rosetta)

Thanked by: Red Gear Music and myronI can confirm, running Logic 12.0.1 in Rosetta resolves all the issues I have been seeing with MacOS Tahoe. This includes:
The one big downside to running in Rosetta mode is the Logic Stem Splitter will not function, so for me, I will continue to use it in Silicon mode and jsut deal with the issues. Let’s hope Apple can fix this.
Is there anyway for Toontrack engineers to inform the Apple engineers of these problems? Because you know when we do this with support, they will pass the blame to Toontrack saying it’s a them problem, and around and around we go. Here’s to hoping it can eventually get resolved.

Being able to detach the mixer window Slow typing when saving a preset
Hmm, not sure that we had seen this problem before.
Are you clicking the detach button in the Mixer tab or are you using the detach menu under View? And in any case, does it work if you click the button, then move the mouse slightly?
I will forward the issue with slow typing when saving user presets to our programmers, I had not seen that before but I can indeed reproduce it here on my end in Logic 12. Seems likely that it has the same root cause, but we’ll double check.
The mouse click bug has been reported to Apple by our programmers.

Petter, the detach mixer tab from the View menu does work, although it still has that weird mouse menu lag. But clicking the detach icon on the mixer tab does not detach UNLESS I expand the Logic plugin header button in the upper right corner (I normally keep it collapsed for more visual space). I posted about this previously. I feel better knowing someone at Toontrack has reported this off to Apple and was able to validate my issues. 🤣

Thanked by: Petter AdstenOkay, yes I have been able to confirm that the slow typing bug has the same root cause.
The Mixer tab detach button not responding when the window header is collapsed seems to depend on the length of the channel name (and the text in the top of the Logic Plug-In window). If I use the default name (Inst 1) there are no issues, but if I change it to something longer, the Mixer detach button is no longer clickable. Seems like a different bug/issue. I’ll report it to our devs to see if there is anything we can do to fix that.

@Petter Adsten, since you were able to see the issues I and some other users were experiencing, do you mind posting an update in this thread if Apple support fixes the issues? I have since went back to Sequoia, because I just couldn’t deal with it anymore. So far everything is back running smooth as butter on my M1 Mac Mini.

Yes, I’m keeping a close eye on this issue, unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be any different in the next macOS update. We are experimenting to find a workaround in our code in the meantime.

Thanked by: Red Gear MusicI noticed in this recent update 3.4.4, it specifically addresses the menu issues. Is this working well for others on Tahoe?

I updated to 3.4.4 and noticed the improvement immediately
