Updated SD3 from 3.1.2, got this message trying to use it.
“The installed resources and the plug-in are not the same version!”
I’ve tried reinstalling. I’ve manually checked the component file in
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components, which says the file version is 3.1.4
I’ve tried Reset and Rescan Selection in Plugin Manager and it validates 3.1.4 but plugin manager still says it’s 3.1.2
Anything else I can do to get it working?
Found the solution.
Turns out the older file was in the system Library and the new version was installed in the user Library. Not sure how Logic decides which one to read, but even when fully uninstalling, the old component in the system Library was still there. After I manually removed it, everything has been fixed. 3.1.4 loads properly now.

Wasn’t it the other way around, that the newer version was/is in system Library (Macintosh HD > Library)? That’s where the installer puts it, but Logic prefers to read from the user Library. Does Product Manager say that the latest SD3 is installed? If so, you have it in the system Library which is good.
By the way, any idea how you got a copy in the user Library in the first place?

I have a similar problem to the above, running on MacOSX 10.14.6 with Cubase Pro version 10.0.40, however having read the solution above I do have the Superior Drummer 3 .component version 3.1.4 sitting in both my system and my user libraries. I tried to rescan all components from the Cubase Plug-in Manager (it looks for files in the User Library). However I still get the same error as originally in this thread. I should add that Superior Drummer 3 does work correctly when run as a stand-alone application. Do you have any further suggestions please? Many thanks
Yes, remove it from the user domain, so that the one in “system” is used. And for Cubase it’s the VST (Superior Drummer 3.vst) that is relevant, not the AU (.component).
The Toontrack Product Manager, the installers/updaters and the standalone all always access the system domain plug-ins.

Thanked by: Glenn WhiteThank you very much Olof, it was indeed the VST file that was the one giving problems, and exactly as you suggested, removing the 3.1.2 version from the User domain file structure so that the 3.1.4 is picked up from the system file path has resolved the problem, allowing Superior Drummer 3 to open inside my Cubase DAW. Thank you again.
Hello,
I´ve got exactly the same Problem, but sadly on a Win 10 computer.
Where is the file, I´ve got to delete on Win 10, and where ist the one I have to keep or to move to my VST-Folder?
Hello,
o.k., now I´ve got it on my own, I guess…
After removing the dll- files everyhere (I got it in more than one scanned folders) I reinstalled. Thereby I was asked for my VST-folder to place the dll-file into.
But after reinstalling Superrior Drummer 3 the dll-file semed to be the old dated version again, namely from 5th of May 2019. Burt after rescanning all Plugins with Cubase it worked!
So there must be any change in the new dll-file anyway, but the date ist still the same.
So my Tip for Win 10 Users: First remove the old dll-file, then install superior drummer 3 program again (only the program, for sure, not the content 😉 )
Best Regards
Windows 10 64bit. Studio One 5.3
I did an update today of Superior Drummer 3 from Toontrack. Now I get a message saying:
The installed resources and the plug-in are not the same version!
Plug-in version: 3.2.4 Version of resources: 3.2.5. Please reinstall Superior Drummer 3. I have reinstalled Superior Drummer 3.
But I still get the same message. However it opens fine in Cakewalk by BandLab.
