    Hey folks,

First of all let me say that I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new EZKeys 2. You have done a stellar job with this and have introduced new features that are just fantastic.

I have just discovered a couple of issues in opening EZKeys 1 files, and in editing user MIDI…

    (1) The only way to open files the user created in EZKeys 1 is to import them… but once you import them EZKeys 2 has zero recollection of the name of file which you opened and doesn’t assist you in saving the opened file by offering the original name of the file. If you don’t remember exactly what you opened—and I have a lot of user created EZKeys 1 files—then you will have no idea what you opened and not have the ability to save it with the same name and some indication that it has been resaved for EZKeys 2. This is not helpful at all.

The best solution, to bypass all of this—I think—would be a way to batch convert all EZKeys 1 files so that they are saved as EZKeys 2 files in a new folder and can be opened freely by EZKeys 2 and life can continue as usual. Without this, it is going to be a pain to import EZKeys 1 files and have to keep track of which exact file you opened and cut and paste the filename into Save As… from the filename in the EZKeys 1 folder.

Is there a batch convert option… or perhaps one that will be coming soon?

    (2) For some reason some creators of third party piano MIDI create MIDI files that have a silent beat (or longer) at the end of their MIDI files. This means that when using them as patterns in Replace MIDI… will leave a gap every time they are looped. Thus they need to be fixed and the silent part at the end of the loop removed.

In EZKeys 1, I could trim the MIDI and drag it to the User folder and the MIDI would be fixed. In EZKeys 2, however, after dragging the trimmed MIDI to the user folder, it still retains memory of that silent gap and it ruins the Replace MIDI… just as if it had never been trimmed.

Fortunately, I can still fix the MIDI in EZKeys 1 and then immediately drag it into EZKeys 2 in order to fix the files, but users should be able to do this directly in EZKeys 2, especially since not all users will have owned EZKeys 1 and will not have this option available to them.

Probably others have reported these things already. Looking forward to seeing them addressed in an upcoming update.

    Thanks,

    Zedd

Until a possible fix, might it work to use a third party batch converter to convert all the EK1 file extensions to EK 2 file extensions then “save as…”
