I work in ProTools 12 (PT) with Superior Drummer (SD)
My working process: I choose among the midi loops in the SD-library. I drag the ones I want into the PT edit window. I find it much easier to copy/paste and move them around in that (PT) window since I can see the whole song and line up with audio files (vocals, guitars) and other midi-tracks (keyboards) as well. Everything plays and sounds ok and so as a final step I want to convert the drums into audio tracks.
The only way to bounce the drum-midi to audio is from within SD I guess. I, therefore, need to get the midi back into SD. So I export and save the midi-file from PT and then import that midi-file into SD. But when I play the midi from within SD it plays back the wrong instruments. What was once a closed hi-hat is now a ride cymbal for example.
What has happened and what do I do to solve it, and avoid this in the future?
Or is there an easier way to bounce from midi to audio? From what I learned I need to do this inside SD. Hence importing the midi I have worked/edited in PT back into a track in SD.
