a bit of an old query (apology for that), but worth answering for future purchasers.
The short answer is that going from a format to another almost always include compromises. Essentially EZplayer pro translate grooves from the initial format the grooves are in into GM Extended, the internal format used by ourselves, and spit them out for the format of the sampler desired (this is the general case, not that relevant to Toontrack MIDI packs).
The long answer, how much of a compromise specifically depends on the target format. In the case of a Toontrack pack there is no ‘inwards’ translation needed so as far as there is an equivalent in the target format then nothing dramatic should happen, other than natural variations due to the response curve of the particular library being triggered. If on the other hand the articulations intended in the MIDI groove does not exist in YFDS then there will be a loss of intends on playback.
That said nothing particularly alien is used in our MIDI packs but level of hi-hat openness typical to Toontrack products (which are our reference point) may be drastically different in YFDS and some subtlety of the performance (as in technique used, no hit is ever lost as such) may get lost in translation.
I hope that clarifies.
