Rogue1. both. the exact trigger design and where the piezo sits certainly has a huge impact on sensitivity. If the data is processed poorly in the module then you won’t get much out of an otherwise decent pad.
2. yes, to avoid cross triggering. With all toms fixed to a rack you may already have issues with vibrations of one triggering the neighbours so imagine the results with the kick and tom physically attached.
YMMV however.
