Superior Drummer 3 SSD Drive

I purchased the SSD Drive for Superior Drummer to save hard drive space. I have used your products for several years so have a number of EZ Drummer 2 drum kits, etc.
Is there a way to connect the SSD Drive to Superior Drummer 3 and also have the current drum kits and expansion midi sounds connected at the same time; so in essence 2 paths? My concern is that I won’t be able to access the one from the other vice versa.

Yes you can add the ‘path’ to the Superior Drummer Library 3 independently of the libraries you already configured for another drive.

How do you do that so that Superior Drummer reads the old EZ Drummer 2 files and the new ones that were on the SSD Drive? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, so when you install the SD3 product (standalone and plug-ins) it will read and find your SD2 libraries by using the configuration of your previous SD2 installation. However if you;
A) Buy the SSD with the SD3 core library installed, go to Settings > Libraries; select the “Browse for Library Path(s)” button and navigate to the drive with the SD3 library.
B) Install the SD3 core library using PM (Custom Install) , SD3 should find the library.
C) If you install the SD3 library to the default location, but move it to another location go to, Settings > Libraries; at the end of the library you moved you will see a menu indicator (3 lines), select edit path and navigate to the location where you moved the library.

Library Settings from the [Settings] dropdown menu:

The Libraries Settings Tab is where you can alter, and set the installation path
to your various installed Superior Drummer Sound Libraries (SDX’s).

Browse for Library Paths: This allows you to set the path to an installed Superior Drummer Sound library (SDX) in Superior Drummer 3,
so that it appears in the Library Selection menu.
This should NOT be used for setting paths to EZX libraries (EZdrummer Sound Libraries).
Simply click this button and navigate to the SL-(library name) folder.

This option should only be used if you are attempting to link a previous existing installation
of a Superior Drummer Sound library (SDX) to Superior Drummer 3 so that it appears in the library selection menu.

Because you have purchased the Superior Drummer 3 hard drive option (where the sound library is pre installed on a hard drive),
you would connect the hard drive containing the sound library(s), launch Superior Drummer,
and use the Browse for Library Path feature to link the sound library to the Superior Drummer 3 software.

An important note: If you are installing Superior Drummer 3 on a computer that contains EZdrummer 2 or Superior Drummer 2,
there are no actions necessary for these existing sound libraries to appear in Superior Drummer 3.
They will automatically appear as available libraries in the Library selection menu.

Thank you very much. That is what I needed to know given that I purchased the standalone SSD Drive in an effort to save hard drive space. When I set the path to the SSD Drive I presume that SD3 will no longer read the old EZ Drummer 2 Expansion libraries that are downloaded on my hard drive. Is this an incorrect assessment? Thanks!

That is incorrect, you will only be adding the path to the SSD drive where the SD3 library is located to your SD3 configuration. All the other path settings will stay intact with your EZDXs and SDXs available within SD3 standalone and plug-ins.

It looks like my SD3 is already connected to the following: /Volumes/SL-SD3 SSD/SL – SuperiorDrummer3

Also, where it says Installation – under that it says Full Installation, All Tools, Mics, And Bleed

Is that the SSD Drive?

Or would the SSD Drive be listed like the manual example: /Volumes/SD3_Core/SL-SuperiorDrummer3

“/Volumes/SL-SD3 SSD/SL-SuperiorDrummer3” is normally the path to the SSD drive.

Thank you so much and sorry for a long thread. it looks like when I plugged the SSD Drive into my Mac it automatically found the drive. Looking forward now to diving into all the great applications of SD3.
