The LP EZX sounds were taken from the original Superior Percussion sessions. The LP EZX sounds are 16-bit and slightly processed (but not overly so).

There is no upgrade path from the discontinued Superior version to the EZX version. Some nonlinear retailers have it for $40 currently (Sweetwater).

Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like in order to get a fully working copy of all the Percussionist kits I have to spend additional money. Not cool.

    Which pieces don’t work.?
Some pieces may only work with the correct tool being selected to play them first
I will check this because personally i would not double up on these sounds having said that,if you use TT/s midii
you will find the midi with the EZx is excellent on this with
Lots of tamb, bongo, conga…. grooves with fills.

Juicy, that’s very kind of you!

The following pieces do not load:

    LP Afuche
    LP Skin Maracas
    MEIN/LP Mix Maracas
    Cajon with Brushes

    The “Percussionist” folder has:

    Size: 2.76 GB
    14,180 Files

Ok i tried the Percussionist original 32 bit and cant get anything to even play so then moved on to SD2 in 64 bit and yes those exact pieces
do not come up for me either. The Brushes cajon would naturally need brushes but the tool selector does not do anything so …….

Actually i could get the afuche if i toggled the 16 bit switch and did find the most others will play from my midi keyboard but not the Gui.
Cant get one of the hand Cajon but brush cajon will work.

    Edit>
In SD2 the Cajon and lp shaker for example loads certain sounds for brush or hands only so it appears to have not loaded or empty but the other sounds are assigned to different midi notes and are loaded.
On the Gui construct bottom right you can go through the different articulations and you will see some have * so the are simply not available depending on what you load.
It is working in its own way.
Spending a bit of time getting to know where to find certain articulations of a kit piece as it could be way down the other end of you midi keyboard and not even play at all on the GUI is unfortunate.
Again the Latin Midi is one TT’s best ,all the rhythms for shakers, blocks, tamb, bells and all make up a solid midi pack, they include some ensembles that combine sounds and rhythms ready to go.

I’m not in front of a computer with the Percussionist installed ATM but IIRC those will load as X-drums. If one’s up for a workaround, I mean.

Perhaps,Plus the EZ kit being a streamlined version does not feature all the Pieces , the cajon for example is just the hand articulation.Less bells & whistles.
At least on the SD version we get an alternative to play with, albeit not at the same time without X drums and stealing a midi note or two.

I’m surprised this problem reported in 2012 hasn’t yet been fixed. As an ownder of DFHS I’d still like to use DFHS Percussionist until Toontrack decides to release an SDX version. I have the EZX and it sounds thin to me.

There is nothing to fix. Percussionist works perfectly in Superior 2.

As mentionned in previous posts, several kit pieces have articulations which do not work or trigger the wrong instrument. There is no sound generated when clicking on the piece in the gui or using the on beat / off beat articulations with a midi keyboard or the keys in the mapping sreen.

The Defective / non-loading Pieces are:

    LP Afuche
    LP Skin Maracas
    MEIN/LP Mix Maracas
    Cajon with Brushes

    As Juicy mentions:
“In SD2 the Cajon and Lp shaker for example loads certain sounds for brush or hands only so it appears to have not loaded or empty but the other sounds are assigned to different midi notes and are loaded.

Now I have just re-tested this with dfhs 1.6 and superior drummer 2.4.3 and I get the same behavior as they do. I will send a message to support, that is probably a better channel.
