At this moment it’s not possible the add 3rd party MIDI into the Search tab. We are working on a solution though but I cannot say when it will be ready I’m afraid. However, even if we add the possibility to add 3rd party MIDI into Search it will not feature the same comprehensive tagging as the Toontrack MIDI since it’s impossible for us to tag all existing MIDI on the market.

Yes, I’m also really hoping there will be a way to search all my midi grooves. Maybe you can design so WE the USERS can do the tagging? When importing, a simple tag editor comes up where you can apply tags to individual grooves or entire folders. With a simple preview function. Yes let’s do that! :) That would be fantastic. That would also be the only way you could tag grooves that you made yourself, that I can think of.

That’s the plan and one of the reasons as to why it’s not implemented yet. Designing a area that allow you users to tag your own MIDI and to do so in an Easy way is not something that we wanted to rush through. We are still discussing how to implement this but it on our short list. As to when and how we figure out how to do it (easy) is another question.

    Hi Erik,

Do you know if the 3rd party SDX “Evil Drums” MIDI library be updated?

No, since Evil Drums is not a Toontrack product it’s not included in the database I’m afraid.

    BUMMMER!!!

Any chance of the company “Platinum Samples” updating their SDX?

I’ll also shoot them an email in regards to this as well!

    Thanks!

BTW… Didn’t mean to step on the OP’s Topic! Wink

Even if the tagging wasn’t there, it shouldn’t be difficult for Toontrack to implement the Tap2Find functionality – that’s just pattern matching. I’d be happy with that.

I just posted something similar, then found this thread. This is really disappointing, as my most favorite MIDI is in fact 3rd party. I don’t see how 3rd party MIDI couldn’t be easily analyzed mathematically for note positions. I understand about tags and style type stuff, but for basic pattern matching I don’t see how it should be hard to implement. It may not be as accurate as Toontrack branded MIDI, but at least it’ll give us access to the tool when using the 3rd party MIDI.

    Hello!

I realized that my third-party libraries 3 worked perfectly. What makes them work and others do not? Where are the configuration files? Need to rename any folder or file?
    Thank you!

Honestly, Tagging I’m not that concerned with it it works for the midi recognition, like the tap2find or song creator. You can always right click and ‘show in browser’ if you’re really concerned weather your fitting groove came from the ‘Swedish samba micro-beats in 13/9’ or the ‘radical rock and rowdy reggae rhythms’ folder. I pretty much dont care where the groove came from if it works.

Isn’t it upto those third party developpers to tag their libraries and offer new files just like ToonTrack did? Why would this be TT’s responsibility?

Then I’m confused, because I spoke to someone over at Platinum Samples in regards to the MIDI grooves included with the 3rd party SDX “Evil Drums”, and they said it was Toontrack’s responsibility. Maybe I got the translation wrong but I’m pretty sure that was the just of the message.

Would love to see this MIDI library incorporated into the new EZD 2 MIDI features!!!

EDIT: I just received an email from “The Guy” over @ Platinum Samples… Apparently, he’s pissed at me for what I wrote here and gave me a nice little wrist slap! But in my defense… I did write “Maybe I got the translation wrong”.

So Instead of him chiming in here and trying to help the customer who bought his product, he’d rather “Big Brother” the internet and send me a nasty email like I’m some schmuck!

So my deepest apologies to you sir for being a long time customer and trying to continue to use your product (That I paid for at Full Price!) with the new EZdrummer 2 “Songwriting Features”!

Sorry to the OP for going off Topic!

i agree. i don’t care bout tags, i don’t even read them when i use “tap 2 find”
really really hope toontrack just let 3rd party midi packs can be registered in database.

Just to be 100% clear. Toontrack MIDI was tagged by a person…. all 90,000 files. It is not calculated by a computer.

It would be impossible for Toontrack to tag all of the nearly infinite amount of 3rd party MIDI that is out there.

There may be a solution in the future for users to tag their own MIDI as Erik previously said in this thread: “Designing a area that allow you users to tag your own MIDI and to do so in an Easy way is not something that we wanted to rush through.
