Please don’t get me wrong and take it personal, but I’ll never get the point why drummers buy that roland stuff for a lot of money, when they exclusively want to use Toontrack Stuff or other VST Instruments. There ar a lot of cheaper opportunities to play the Software, with much more features. Why don’t you use jobeky or drumtec set and a e-drumin 12 for example. When your kit grows and you need more inputs, just buy another e-drumin and daisychain both of them. And they are much more flexible to adjust the pads to your playingstyle and so on.

Just a suggestion. Not critisizing your decision in any way!!!

Hey, no offense taken…if there are other solutions that provide all the nuances of the Roland digital snare, HH and ride and support positional sensing on all the toms. Please let me know…

im not a drummer…I own and operate a very busy small studio…I produce, engineer, play guitar, bass and keys. I hire out some local drummers for my clients that want ‘human’ drums. I spoken to several of my drum friends (one of them has a td27)…and they steered me towards the newer TD516.

And the fact that SD3 supports all the nuances of the Roland digital devices

Okay, now I get your idea behind this invest. I would also buy a system that most pro drummers accept as an industrial standard.

This will definately do the job. But afaik, the edrumin 12 system gives you the same flexibility and nuances without digital pads. But it takes a lot of tweaking to get it your playing style. Take a look at youtube to see what’s it all about the edrumin system.

To avoid discussoins with your pros, stay at  roland. 👍

Roland if you want 100% accurate triggering, edrumin if you only need to whack things and get about 80% triggering accuracy for 1/5 of the price
