Sadly you’re going to have to look elsewheres for celtic drums and percussion. I would love to have a decent sounding bodhran but it’s not to be. Just sampling that ain’t gonna be easy due to capturing the different positions of how the hand that supports the drum is. That’s a huge part of bodhran drumming – I’d suggest taking a look at any of the Celtic Woman videos where Ray Fean does his thing. Skiffle might be easier but that doesn’t have that much of a distinctive drum sound as much as style of playing. Same thing with cajun.

Thankfully I have a bodhran and can play it. I’ve used it a few times in songs. I use sd3 for drums as real drums in my house are just not practical. Percussion, although loud is nowhere near as loud as drums so I tend to play the actual instruments. Obviously no use if you don’t have the instrument and can’t play it if you did.

Definitely a need for multisample percussion. Tabla would also be useful. I have a set but they need re-skinning. I did have tabla on a Roland u220 expansion card 30 years ago which were actually quite good.

Saying all that I love SD3 for the drums which are by far the best.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

I was surprised how loud a bodhran can get when played in a quiet setting. But yeah most hand percussion doesn’t get as loud as a full drum kit.

Superior is my go to drum library.  I really wish Toontrack would produce more Afro Cuban and Jazz midi packs. I need them!
