I’m a pretty advanced user, and this is driving me nuts.
I’m in EZdrummer 3.1, and I’ve copied a groove that’s in the timeline at the bottom. Now I want to paste only the hi-hat from that groove onto another groove (that has no hi-hat at all, not that that matters). The destination groove currently has kick and snare only. So, I select the destination groove, control-click, and choose “Paste on Selected Groove” > Hi-hat. But instead of simply adding the copied hi-hat to the existing groove, EZd is erasing everything at the destination, leaving me with hi-hat only.
Clearly this is now how this is supposed to work. Is there a trick to this basic feature? What am I missing here?
I think it’s just a moment with a particular groove you’re having I think. If you set up a different example with two different grooves, it will probably work.
You could do it a different way if needed. Right-click the source groove > Find > Select Containing Folder. With your source Groove now selected in the Search Results Area, now you can use the Groove Parts feature and drag the hihat from there.

I’ve had a go at what you’re doing. The instruments in the destination groove are all replaced by the hi-hat if I choose Paste on Selected Grooves > All.

Thanks, Shootie. I just tried it with another two grooves, and I’m getting the same result. “Paste on Selected Groove” is broken, no matter where I try to use it. (Not sure if the plug-in format matters, but I’m using the AU plug-in.)
Thanks also for the workaround. I’ll give that a shot. (The caveat is that I’m currently using multiple filters on the Grooves tab, and I’m continually referring to this set of grooves to build my track. So, if I choose Select Containing Folder, I’ll lose those filters. So, I’ll have to take note of the filters so I can re-select them.)
Toontrack: I’m 100% sure this is a bug that needs to be addressed. I’ll look to see if there’s an official bug-reporting thread.

Hey, Mick. While I appreciate your reply, the issue is not with “Paste on Selected Grooves > All.” The issue is with “Paste on Selected Grooves > Hi-hat” (or with other, individual instruments in that command). Thanks.
If your snare is defined as the power hand, the tendency is that paste on selected groove will replace it with the hi-hat as it is a power hand. What you might want to try is selecting your groove and then select Groove Parts and drag the hi-hat from there onto your groove.

Was thinking power hand too, put his hihat is replacing multiple instruments.

Still thinking it could be something wonky with it. That’s why I suggested to try doing with the Groove Parts.

Hi there,
Can you save the EZD3 project, archive it (compress .zip) and post it here. I can not replicate the issue on any of my rigs, I have a 3.0.6 version and 3.1 and can not get it to misbehave like that.

I know
Can we get an example of which particular grooves are giving you problems. Give us a couple of specific grooves and let’s see if we can reproduce this issue.
