Hello and Greetings,
I have a Mac Studio M2 Ultra. and I’m using Pro Tools Studio vs 2024.10.2
The Toontrack PM shows the AAX versions of SD 2.0 and SD 3.0 upgrade are installed but they are not showing up in Pro Tools Studio. They are even
showing the green check-marks that say ‘Ready to Use’.
I know that SD 3.0 is also a stand-alone program and clicking on that directly from my desktop, SD does start up well. It’s just not appearing in
my Pro Tools Studio program.
Thanks So Much,
Frank Bright
Go to this folder path: MacHD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-ins and you should see Superior Drummer 3.aaxplugin This is the folder where all your PT (aax format) plugins are installed. When you did the install did you allow the installer to put the plugin where it wanted to and did you allow it to install the aax version? Depending on how you have your inserts showing (type, developer – I use organize by developer) I see on an instrument track when clicking on an insert: multichannel plug-in/Toontrack/Superior Drummer 3 (stereo).

Are you using a stereo instrument track to insert Pro Tools on? A stereo instrument track is required.

OWC Thunderbay Mini (4 X 1TB Sata SSD), Express 4M2 (4 X 2TB M.2 SSD), Envoy Express (1TB M.2 SSD)
Presonus Quantum, Faderport & Faderport 8

2020 Macbook Pro 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD Audio(mobile rig)
An Avid tech advised me to delete Superior drummer plugin to test a problem I was having. I tried to reinstall, including a fresh download (several attempts and I have all the necessary passwords)…..
The plug-in shows up in the Library/ApplicationSupport/Avid/PlugIn folder, but it won’t load into my Protools….
BTW, My computer is a Mac Studio with M2 Max chips and I run PT on Rosetta (because that’s evidentally what PT needs).
ToonTrack has run flawlessly up till now (since buying this computer November of 2024)……
How can I get this plug-in back to work.

ProTools hasn’t required Rosetta since version 2023.3. Whether you need Rosetta or not depends on if the rest of the plugins you use are qualified for Apple Silicon or not. The full path for plugins used in PT is: your computer name/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins Also when testing a plugin for a possible problem there’s no need to delete the plugin but move it to the Plug-Ins (Unused) folder that is in the folder that has the regular Plug-Ins folder. Do that while PT is not running.
What was the problem you were having – was it with SD3? You say it ran okay before.
