MORE FOR YOUR SONGS.

In every note of this classic instrument, you can hear its inner workings—the clank of the hammers, the buzz of the reeds and the slight inconsistencies that make every note beam with its own characteristic imperfections. When played hard, it barks; when played soft, it purrs and sings. Be it in funk, jazz, rock or anything in between, it fits into any context you place it in. No wonder it’s become a legend in its own right. In fact, it’s one of the few electric pianos that has stood the test of time and remains as current today as it was when it was first introduced in the 1950s. We’re, of course, talking about the timeless Wurly.
This EKX for EZkeys 2 features a carefully preserved and restored instrument from the mid-1970s. It was sampled both through direct input (DI) and through a vintage combo amp captured with a ribbon mic, giving you two completely contrasting tones. In the broad selection of presets that are included, these tones are blended and saturated with various effects involving anything from the instrument’s own tremolo to chorus, reverb, distortion and modeled amps. To add even more variation and color, several presets include subtly interwoven layers of synthesized brass, bells and atmospheres. Expect the entire tonal range from bone dry and up-close to warm to smoky, raw, greasy and gritty.
In addition to the sounds and presets, a basic MIDI library tailored for the instrument is included, ensuring that you can get started right away with some riff-driven and soulful, bluesy and funky material when you launch this EKX.
No songwriter’s digital toolbox should be missing one of the most defining electric pianos ever built. If you’re looking for that vintage vibe that never goes out of style, this EKX is for you.

A music history cornerstone.
Introduced in the early 1950s, the Wurlitzer* electric piano quickly became a cornerstone in the sound of several genres spanning jazz and blues to soul, funk and rock. Unlike other electric pianos of that time, which used tines, the Wurlitzer* produces sound through metal reeds that vibrate when struck by hammers, much like a traditional acoustic piano. These reeds are electrically amplified via electrostatic pickups, creating a uniquely punchy and slightly overdriven tone that is instantly recognizable. Largely thanks to its compact and portable design, it also became a top pick for use on stage.
To this day, some three-quarters of a century after it was introduced, the Wurlitzer* remains as current as it ever was and continues to add a raw, human edge to anything it touches.

Mix-ready sounds – one click away!
The included presets cover anything from the most authentic, natural and bare to the saturated, distorted and elaborately big. To add, some presets even include textures of additional synths, giving you even more tonal color to play with.
As always, each preset has its own set of macro controls. With these, you can easily alter, tweak or fine-tune the sound to perfectly suit your mix. Should you wish to route the instrument to your DAW for further processing, use the Multi-Out out preset. In addition to offering an unsaturated take of the piano, this setting will distribute the microphones to its own channels.
Instant inspiration – at your fingertips!
This EKX includes its own basic collection of MIDI. It was tailored specifically for the instrument and designed to give you a starting point of material to work from and be inspired by when exploring the sonic possibilities of the product.
As always, the profound set of features in EZkeys 2 designed for tailoring MIDI to fit your needs will let you expand on these basic ideas and take them to whatever musical space your compositions call for.
