Hopefully this isn’t a duplicate … tried posting this yesterday and it isn’t showing up.
I am using the Nashville EZX kit in EZDrummer3 and want to trade out the floor tom with one of the toms that is in stock EZD3 kits (e.g., Main Room, Tight Room, or Bright Room). When I do that, the sound from it alternates between the expected tom sound and a soft rim shot sound.
I can see that in the grid view, the toms have 3 alternate hit options (you can see them by expanding it with the little double-down-arrow symbol thing that looks like >> turned 90 degrees clockwise). With a tom from the Nashville EZX kit, I see that each hit of the tom alternates between “Center” and “Center Alt” (the first two of the three alternates). And with that nashville tom, the sound is pretty similar and works fine. However, when I swap out the tom for an EZD3 Main Room tom, it alternates in the same way (between the first and second alternate types) but the second entry with that EZD3 tom is “Rim Shot”, so I get the aforementioned rim shot sound. If I use a tom from another kit (e.g., Americana or EZD2 vintage), the alternating does not happen.
Is it possible to disable that alternating hit behavior with the Nashville EZX?
Thanks!
Mark
To my knowledge…
You can go to Settings > Advanced > Hit Variation > Low. This will fix it. But not in a way that sounds pleasant to me. Do try it though.
Only Superior Drummer can natively disable Alternate Hit and still sound as natural as possible.

Thanked by: tetrachordThat kind of seems to be the setting … for this particular setup, it is not changing that behavior even though with the Nashville tom selected, it appears to adjust that hit pattern. But I agree with you that the sound would not be great since it would seem to change the settings for all of the drum parts, which would not be good. Nonetheless, this gives me a bit of insight into how it is working. Thanks for the information.
I didn’t recreate your issue entirely, but have dealt with it in my own ways. I believe all EZD1 generation EZXs have a mandatory alternate hit. Best of luck.

I ended up using a different one of each of the toms from the Nashville EZX and tuned them downward a bit and added a little more compression and got where I wanted to be. So it’s all good. I mostly wanted to understand what was going on, so appreciate the help on that.
