I record a live jam weekly using Reaper. I push the record button, the recording runs for 3 hours. I have two instances of SD3 on two tracks as a virtual Instruments.
During the course of the jam I bring up various SD3 kits, sometimes one, sometimes two, always changing the BPM over the course of the jam. Both tracks are set to record Midi, but only one records midi when I run two SD3 at the same time.
This video shows the issue and settings being used.

I don’t know if it is a Reaper or SD3 setting that I am missing.
One detail, I route the SD3 from one track to the other SD3 track so the two instances are in sync. I manually engage the SD3 grooves during these jams. I can not use “Follow Host” in SD3 because I don’t want to be locked into Reaper’s BPM or transport.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there,
It looks to me you are playing grooves from the groove preview rather than the SD3 track, have you tried moving the grooves to the sd3 timeline and the pressing record in Reaper?

Yes I have moved the groove to the timeline and the results are the same, only one SD3 midi records.
It seems the routing to sync the two instances disables midi from being recorded on the other instance.
The workaround has been to simply paste the recorded midi into the track of the other instance of SD3 at mixdown.
More curious why it functions this way.
I can remove the routing and both instances will record midi but not sure if there is another way to link the two instances to start at the same time.
