I recorded my drummer into Cakewalk by Bandlab. I noticed that his closed-by-design high hat hits are almost all Open Edge 3 instead of closed edge notes.
Is there any way to easily move them without using the grid editor?
If you select the entire song in the Song Track, then select that HiHat’s Articulation lane, you would move the entire song of HiHat in one stroke. Be done in a few seconds if your problem is that straight forward. Otherwise might take a few minutes.

Thank you. I have done that, by moving all of the hits to “closed” edge lane. There are no longer any hits in the Open Edge 3 lane, but that is what I am still hearing. It’s as if there are still “some” hits in the Open Edge 3 lane, when there are not any actual hits in that lane – maybe the “harder” hits are doing that. I really want them all to be the closed edge lane.
I also updated to Superior Drummer 3 to 3.3.7, (up from 3.3.6) but that didn’t make any difference.
Do you have any suggestions?
If this was tracked by an ekit you’re in the wrong spot. Go lower in the Grid Editor where it says Velocity, change that to hihat pedal controls and get ready for a learning curve.
OR (first back up your work)
delete the hihat pedal data to get back control of using articulations in the Grid Editor.
Best of luck!

Thanked by: rushfanIf CC data on the hihat exists, it doesn’t matter what you do. I refer you to my last post. Mapping doesn’t matter at this point. If I’m missing something, hopefully someone else will chime in.

Actually, I think I found what I am looking for for my 8 song project. I am doing this in the plugin in my DAW.
I had my real drummer play on his Roland vDrums, and I have since discovered I can re-route the MIDI notes, which will be much easier, since he always plays with his high-hat not-quite-tightly closed, like a heavy metal drummer.
I want all hits on Hi-Hat Open Edge 3 (MIDI 26) to map to Hi-Hat Closed Edge (MIDI 22)
I am doing a MIDI map to route 26 –> 22
Hi rushfan,
what Shootie is getting at is that if there is CC data recorded from the e-kit, you will not get expected results remapping articulations or dragging notes to specific articulations in the Grid Editor. If your drummer has recorded the HH with an e-kit, selecting the right MIDI Preset in Superior Drummer 3 should yield expected results with un-altered performance.
If the note triggers are for the Edge and Tip Trigger notes, the HH CC data takes care of the correct openness.
Re-Learning MIDI notes in the MIDI Mapping Property Box on the DRUMS page would be opening a can of worms for you, I suspect.

John

Thanked by: JohnThat was exactly it! Thanks, John!
Although I have had SD3 for years (and SD2 before that), this is the first time I have used it in this way.
Happy to put you at 1,000 thanks!
