Hi everyone,
Is the a way to automate the mute buttons on the mixer in EZ Drummer 2? You know, like program the ambient mics to turn on and off in different sections?
I’ve tried the “write”-function in Cubase Pro 9, but no avail. And yes, I know I can just bounce all the tracks down to multi-track wave files, but I really would like to stay in midi and vst.
All the best,
Laurids
The simplest way I know is to have two tracks in the DAW. Someone else might know a better way.
Right click on the button. Assign it an available CC value. Use that CC value in your DAW track or use the Midi Values Editor on the Grid Editor Tab in EZD3.

As Shootie stated, you can bind EZ Drummer’s mixer controls to MIDI CC. However, unless you have a control surface, you would need to write these values in by hand in your DAW.
I would agree with Mick that going through your DAW via multi-out and automating it there would be a better option. The benefits are far greater flexibility while the trade-off is that you would need to provide your own bus effects such as compression and perhaps a tape plug-in. For me this is no big thing since I am already doing this on my mixes.

There is nothing wrong with your solution. I use it for various mixing applications, including bringing up a heavily distorted ambient channel, especially during a tom break.

Thanked by: Mick AvoidantI do all of my Toontracking in my DAW, but I know that others don’t. If I needed to do what you’re doing, I would put the off and on in their own DAW tracks. I was doing that when switching in and out of twin kicks, until I got Superior Drummer. Shootie and Jord have greater technical knowledge of Toontrack than I have.
