Has anybody had really good luck triggering superior drummer 3 with acoustic triggers? I’m using Roland single triggers for my snare/toms, and can’t get them to play right for anything. No matter how I set them the crosstalk is insane, they play like buzz notes when I play at full volume, and I’ve messed with the velocity control, etc… I’ve used plenty of gels, tight beads, loose heads, even turned the local control back on my module, but I’m almost tempted to stuff them or just scrap the whole thing and go with mics, and use the tracker after.
Are you using a standard kit with normal heads? If you are then it just isn’t going to trigger well. Also depends on your module which you don’t say which it is.

Yeah I’m using my straight acoustic kit with my Alesis crimson 2 module as the interface. I’m probably going to return the triggers and just break down and buy a regular interface to use my mics. I’d hoped for the convenience of midi but with live cymbals, but oh well.
The Alesis low end modules are not very good trigger units to use. Dialling them in with mesh heads is hard enough. Trying this on an acoustic kit is going to be almost impossible. Roland modules are far better but still would be hard to get good results on an acoustic kit. Best bet would be go hybrid and use a few mesh or rubber pads.

Or just pick up a cheap drum microphone kit off of Amazon and record your kit and use the tracker. It doesn’t have to be a pristine studio recording of your drums. Just close mic them so the tracker can distinguish your kit pieces.

Yes I have all the mics, that’s always been an option, was just looking for the convenience of going straight to midi and live cymbals for videos. I’m just going to send them all back except maybe one for my snare.
