    as a general rule – content areas mostly – some programs if i trust them – i will reset permissions to add “users – full control” over the parent and let inheritence propagate down. and certainly my content only directories are “user friendly” this way. also, i set my Defender exclusions as well to prevent issues with my DAW and a number of standalone apps because sometimes the content transfer between the apps and desktop (esp if there are local system services running behind the scenes – Avid, Waves, Izotope, NI, etc etc) can impact behaviours as well (as generally speaking you don’t want users to interact directly with local system running services as it’s a potential security breach).

    so:

    • file permissions updating user access to full control (not just read/write in most cases as program files etc have top level deny permissions by default)
    • Defender exceptions for the the application needing seamless access to content
