Suggestions for sounds to use on a 22 inch gong drum

    You may want to keep in mind what a gong drum is – see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gong_bass_drum

    I’m a little confused – are you adding another trigger to your e-kit setup or a physical drum?  If you’re truly going for what a gong drum really is you may want to think about something like a concert tom tuned as low as possible to not have any recognizable pitch. If not then the sky’s the limit as you say. Given the libraries you have I’d look in D&D.

    Well, like I said, the concept of a gong tom is fairly new to me but having watched some youtube vids, I have a better feel for what they sound like. It’s basically like a glorified oversized floor tom mounted in the air. LOL

    There is a Tama 14 x 20″ Gongdrum in Hitmaker that you could tune down. I use it a lot and as an x-drum in my other SDX libraries.

    I also use Taiko from Orchestral Percussion as an x-drum (with transient adjustment for a sharper attack) and it gives a great extra sound dimension when I want low end sounds.
