The simplest thing would be to use separate tracks for each articulation. I’m sure there are other ways but that’s what comes to mind off the top of my head.

While you’ve peaked my interest in them, I don’t currently have any experiences with AeroDrums.
Have you read this section of the manual? https://aerodrums.com/manual/#midi

    or reviewed this FAQ https://aerodrums.com/using-aerodrums-with-daws-drum-samplers/

So I record all my midi in my DAW (Cubase) I just go into the drum editor and select the notes I want to be on a different articulation and drag them there. For me this is just usually when I’ve missed a rim shot or hit one when I shouldn’t have but would work in your scenario too.

I take it the aero drums can’t recognise you playing between side stick and snare?

Thanks. I thought of that and figured there must be a more sophisticated way….but that’ll work I think. Thanks.

I found this in the Aerodrums FAQ:
    Q. Can I perform cross-stick hits?
    A. Cross-sticks are triggered by a separate drum that can be positioned wherever you like. It could be placed in between the snare drum and floor drum and triggered in the usual way or it could be placed off to the side of the hi-hat and triggered using normal hit gestures.
