It doesn’t sound like you have a volume problem. It sounds like your sound guy is masking the kick. They need to sort it out between the kick and the bass as they cannot occupy the same space for this very reason.

I’m the bass player and have active EQ on my Ibanez. I can cut the lows, which have been boosted. Thank you for your answer.

Thanks for the warning on the link. Expired certificate… I’m going to have to check that.

It gets blocked on my Chrome browsers, Android and Windows, in the Samsung Android browser and Edge for Windows.

It should be good now. We regenerated the Certs. Thanks for checking it out and letting me know.

probably a sign that I should be updating it a little more often. 😀

Jord, I’ve looked at the audio spectrum of my bass and the kick. You’re right about them fighting for the same seat. I don’t mind buying an SDX with the ideal kick for my songs. Can I send you a song so that you can hear what I’m dealing with?

I’d look at Death and Darkness especially the Death part. There’s double kicks there. And that SDX is not just for Metal or heavy music either.

Had a listen to the song (finally). The kick is definitely big to where I can’t really hear the bass. If you have an expansion pack with a smaller and tighter kick, that would help greatly. As Jack suggested, Death & Darkness is a good choice as the kicks are tighter and punchier. The other good choices are the EZD3 core library (seeing as I know you have that) as well as the Signature EZX. Michael Ilbert is good for punchy kits.

    Hope this helps

You would have heard the bass guitar a lot better, if I’d sent you a mix with bass guitar in it. I’ll try again.

Had a listen on my walk and it is just as I thought. The kick drum and bass are competing to the point where the kick is being overpowered. My opinion is that the song is getting its power from the bass. Thus, I wouldn’t want to do anything to it. I’m thinking a smaller and tighter kick would help push the song forward. The packs mentioned above would probably help. I would first try some of the kicks from your currently owned libraries and try stacking a sample on top, to get that extra push.

Great answer. I’ll try a kick with its hit at I higher freq. Roomathon kick in Metal, which I already have, might do it.
