When I finish recording a song in EZD3 and send each channel of the kit to pro tools – so they each have their own individual track. I’ve been really getting in to mid/side processing and when I process the Kick, ie., I cannot find any side information (which is a good thing). My goal is to find the frequencies leaking out to the sides and attenuate that frequency to keep the whole kick centered. So my question is, are these sampled drums already 100% centered that I don’t have to concern myself with this process? Same with the snare and EZBass. No side info. Also, the kick and snare should always be sent in mono on a PT mono track, correct? Thanks in advance.
The kick and snares are mono channels. Mono channels are always mid. Side information refers to stereo information outside of its mono component. Generally, one would perform mid/side processing on the mix bus around the mastering phase.
