Hi.
I’m having a lot of crashes in Cubase 13.0.21 and Steinberg support tells me that the dumps are caused by Superior_Drummer_3.vst3
It happens usually when editing Midi, either on the midi-track for Superior Drummer 3, or in some cases it crashes when I edit midi for a totally different vsti, sometimes EZkeys2.
This started happening almost daily, if not more often, and I think it became unstable at the time when I upgraded Cubase to version 13….. But now it crashes when I try to use Cubase 12 as well.
What do you need from me to further investigate?
Br, Morten
Have you tried starting Cubase in safe mode and removing the preferences? I have no trouble with crashes in Cubase 12 (I’m upgrading to 13 when on offer)
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
Thanks for the tip. I’m testing safe mode now (amongst other tweaks/disabling of plugins etc.)
Well safe mode worked, and then I deleted the preferences….started Cubase….
Cubase worked fine for 3 hours today, and then: BANG crash again while exporting Audio. The application was terminated with an error while executing the following file:
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 13\VST3\Cubase Plug-in Set.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win\Cubase_Plug-in_Set.vst3
I’m having the same issue with SD3 and Cubase 13.o.30. Any suggestions? Mine works sometimes and not at other times. And it stops at different areas of the song(which is even weirder to me). Last year I had no problems at all, and I haven’t changed anything (Cubase or SD3). Thanks for any help.
Hi.
I have updated SD3 to the latest version (3.3.7), as well as the latest Cubase version (13.0.41).
And the latest builds from Softube (2.5.86). I don’t know for sure that I will avoid crashes in the long or short run but it seems like Cubase somehow stopped crashing…..at least today 🙂
….and: I did a lot of testing regarding how I added SD3 to a Cubase project; It seems to me that adding an VST instrument (incl a midi-track) works way better than adding a VST instrument track. I have no idea why as long as there is only one instance of SD3 and one midi-track running in each project.
Well – the “happy times” didn’t last long.
Cubase crashed right after I saved the previous post…..
Ugh. I just need to have it get to measure 59! Crashed at 46. I feel like a marathon runner who is about to win, and then trips over their untied shoelaces before the finish line. Mine is crashing at measure 5, 8, 9, 33 the most. I was thinking that there was some specific drum hit that Cubase didn’t like, but no. Then I thought maybe the laptop is too hot, but no. Then I tried just hovering my cursor over somewhere in SD3 while recording, but no. Lol. –I keep thinking if I knew what the difference was, between when I started having this issue (11/23 or so) and early 2023, I could figure out exactly what the problem is, but nothing’s different. —I did just upgrade Cubase to the latest. No change, still crashes. I have never updated SD3 in 5 years. How do you update SD3 (where is the correct button or drop down menu)?
You need the toontrack download manager. This will update sd3 and the plugin. I have Cubase 13 and sd3 both current versions with no problems. You really need to get sd3 on the current version.
