You can raise the volume of individual cymbals. Click on a cymbal and to the right there is a slider where you can raise it. You can also use the articulation menu to even choose which articulations of a cymbal it affects.

Hi Marc, that’s the thing they are all pinned, and I can not hear them but the midi data is there. so I cannot hear them while recording or during playback.
When I recorded the audio from the drums, I get all the drums in the waveform, but any of the cymbals are not there in the audio waveform. just a flat line not a bump on it.

In standalone mode. I am now loading my favourite project that I saved called black and blue. I am checking all the audio, routing and microphone assignments, such as close, mics, etc. I will save that as black and blue and default.

here’s the thing when you load the VST in your DAW, you don’t get asked what project you would like to load. You just get the default.

Personally, I feel that it should open a select project box when the VST loads. We have to go back into standalone mode, load our favourite project and save that as “default” before opening it as a VST in the DAW.
so…. in the standalone project, I have close mics assigned to all of the cymbals. I will save that as the project and default. Unload everything to the DAW see what happens.

    Cheers Ken

Have you checked your routing in SD3? Maybe try not using multichannel out in SD3 and see if your cymbals are there.

As to being asked what project to load when you open SD3 and all you get is whatever you set as default there is an answer for that. In the top menu bar just to the left of the slot/space that shows the amount of memory being used is a slot that when clicked on allows one to load whatever preset kit that you previously saved. Click on that and go past the first divider line and there should be an entry ‘user presets’. When you click on that you get a list of presets that you created and saved.

Yup there is a save as default option. It’s easy to then just load another kit. Are you expecting to see seperate outs for each cymbal? Have you configured sd3 to do that as not many presets have that. They are mostly just in the overheads and ambience.

Perhaps, post an SD3 project so we can have a better look as to what is happening.

    Hello everyone.

Everything is routed to output 1 and 2. All three MIDI interfaces are sending MIDI data as I mentioned before. I do know about the drum and mixer presets, and I assume that if something has changed in the program. That when you save from the file menu to your project name that this preset is also saved, maybe not. When I think about it, that would not make sense because then you wouldn’t have presets that are stable to work from. I take that back, yeah the preset should be saved. If you had or change kit pieces. Then one should realize that if they like what they did they should save it as a preset otherwise it’s easy to go back by reloading the preset.

Right now I am checking all of my routing and levels in stand alone mode. I will save that as a preset, naming convention to be determined. Then I will save the file called black and blue.

In Cubase, I will reopen the project and load the last file name I saved in SD3.

Will let you know what is happening and again thanks for your help.

    Cheers Ken

When you save from the file menu the mixer preset doesn’t get updated/saved. What’s saved is the overall state of SD3 and not component presets although the changes you made do get saved as part of the overall preset. You can have multiple user created overall presets saved from the file menu that you can recall/load at any time.

And that’s cool cuz u can have any conglomeration of kit pieces saved as a user pre-set. Look at that! I’m Not dead yet and the brain cell is still firing. I only got 1 ….
I thought I’d killed it years ago. Cleaning parts with trichloroethylene 111. Now there’s a headache next day.

No, it shouldn’t. Projects and presets are two totally different areas. Multiple projects can take a single preset and modify it to its liking and make something totally unique to the project. If it worked as above, it would be a global change in that every project that uses that preset would be affected.

This is off topic but I’m curious in that does this preset store any cc’s that have been assigned other than the obvious ones for the high hat etc. I am also going to assume that any instrument Mike setups and bleeds are saved in the preset as well, correct? O no the old brain cell is getting smarter!

So start from your preset, and save that as a unique file name probably referencing the project.

    Thanks guys

That will work. Also note that if you create a unique enough modifications to the preset you started with, you can save that as another preset. This is something that I have done with many of my presets.

What is a thermistor moderator is that you can’t handle 250 words the hell is going on. I don’t like wasting time on stupid. And yes now I’m angry.
Yay windows dictation. OK So back to hunt and peck typing so that the message makes sense. Not the modrators fault that window dictation sucks but loosing 30 minutes of explanation seems to be a problem im retired but im not dead and dont like wasting ti time composing something only to have it disappear

is there a word or letter limit on this blog?
