    Hi,

I haven’t tried this myself but if Aftertouch is sent when you place your hand on the upper cymbal, you should be able to Enable the ‘Envelope and Offset’ property box, set the Trigger to Aftertouch and then adjust the Release and Curve Slope to taste.

The “Choke/Mute Trigger” property box doesn’t appear for the hihat since it requires a mute tail articulation

Understood – SD development team – how about adding this so us VH14 owners can use this feature?

I’m still waiting for them to add proper vh-14 support for the TD-27 preset. I’m using the TD-50 preset and have the same problem you’re describing. I’ve noticed some other issues using the choke on my other cymbals. The choking isn’t consistent, it seems to work when it wants to. My cy-16rts, cy-14ct, and the digital ride all have that issue. The touch choke doesn’t seem to work at all on the digital ride

I own the td-27 and using the TD-50X preset the touch on the ride and chokes work perfectly

    Hi,

I am not in the Development team but I would be surprised if Mute Tails crossfades could be added the same way for Hi-Hats as they work for Cymbals, since that would require them being recorded. The Hi-Hat transmuting works by using the CC data from the foot controller to control the openness but all those stages are recorded.

That’s why I suggested using Aftertouch for the Envelope release, provided your HH controller and module sends this when you hand choke it.

Yes, the TD-27 sends aftertouch for the hihat touch choke. Can you elaborate on how to achieve it? I tried to see how the ride choke was triggered when touched but I don’t see anything special on the midi processed by SD3.

I select the Hi-Hat, Enable the Envelope and Offset Property Box, select the ‘Release’, change Trigger to ‘Aftertouch’ then adjust Release Time and Slope to taste.HH_Aftertouch

Note that I haven’t tried this in an actual playing scenario, so I don’t know if you have to e.g. Disable the Envelope for the Closed Pedal. I am not sure exactly what can trigger the Aftertouch sent.

Could it be that the aftertouch outputs at a velocity too low to trigger?

Go to Midi in/Edrums settings, select the preset for your kit, and then below in the “edit” menu, check “Single choke Mode” and “lower choke threshold”, make sure to save the preset.

Hi there, I am new to SD3 and it seems that this issue 8s not solved, yet. My System is Td27 plus VH 14D and choking does not work. Does somebody solved this issue in the meantime?

    Best Regards

I just got a td-27 and the td-50x preset works so much better. I’ve been trying to google why that is and its not that easy find information on. I wish I knew that earlier!
