Hello, same problem here with SAMPLITUDE PRO X SUITE. The DAW scans my PC for VST Plugins but cannot find EZMIX2.

    What can we do?

I figured it out. First go to windows file explorer

c:/ program files (x86)/Vstplugins/Toontrack and check to see if the EZdll file is there. If not look in Vst steinburg directory or Program files (x86) common files and if you find the ez.DLL  file, copy it to the vstplugin Toontrack directory.

Now go to your daw, options, preferences,  vst and look for edit path list,  and add program files (x86) / vst/ Toontrack

Then do a clear and rescan. Basically your daw needs to now where to look for ez mix, so you add this info in your daw. But if the ezmix DLL file is not there in the windows directory ,  it won’t work.

Same issue when setting up a replacement laptop (ASUS Ryzen 7).

    Found EZdrummer 3.vst3 & EZKeys 2 in “C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\”, but no reference to EZMix 2

Needed to find “EZmix.dll” in C:\Program Files\VstPlugins\Toontrack\EZmix.dll; copy it; and then paste it into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\ to make it work.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

please be aware that copying or moving the .dll file (which is VST2 btw) breaks the Toontrack updater, since it cannot “know” where you have moved the .dll file.
The proper way to do it is to point your host to include the path to where it is installed in the VST scan. Or Custom install EZmix2 upon initial installation.

    John,

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried the normal approach of adding, to the VST plug-in Path List, the locations where I found the EZMix.dll file.  In this case that was “C:\Program Files\VstPlugins\Toontrack\” & “C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins\Toontrack\”.  I re-scanned the plug-in paths.  EZDrummer and EZKeys both showed up as FX add options, but not EZMiz.

I then looked for other locations where EXDrummer and EZKeys files were stores.  I found them in “C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\”, but that location did not have an EZMix file, so I copied the EZMix.dll file to that location and everything appeared as FX add options.   I have to assume that this is the location that Reaper reads from based on this experience.  Is this not the case?

If you are saying that we should not copy a file into this location, otherwise we break the updater, then what is the solution that Toontrack proposes to fix this issue?

    Thanks.

    btw… love your products!

I don’t think you break the updater. I think the reply means you cannot update the program but still use it. Most of the time when I update a toontrack program, I don’t notice any difference. Maybe after a few years and a few more updates it could affect the program.

The reply was suggesting rather than move the dll file to a different directory, in the Daw try to add the common file directory where the DLL file is located, but for some reason this solution does not always work.

Another solution to the, “not being able to update the program” problem, is to just un- authorize exmix 2, every year or so and re-install it, move the DLL. again to make it work as you did in the past, then it’s updated.

Toontrack should find a software solution to make ez mix and it’s DLL file to  automatically install to the correct toontrack directory like ez drummer and ex keys. This problem has been around for years.

Ok.  The re-install every so often suggestion makes sense.  Thanks.

installed ezmix3,  can’t see the plug in and can’t find the dll file at all. not a computer expert.  why is this so difficult?

EDIT: had to find the correct installation folders and update reaper’s vst plug-in paths
