I love SD3 but sometimes (most times) it’s way more than I ever need. The simplest issues don’t seem to come easy. I am trying to use SD3 in a live performance. I use a Macbook, Presonus 44VSL, Alesis D4 module for MIDI transmissions and a Soundcraft 8 channel board. I am trying to run from SD3 thu the VSL to a mixing board. I need 4 channels total for live…Kick, Snare, Toms and Cymbals. The VSL presents me with 4 inputs (1,2,3,4) ONLY. It does have a NONE listed as well for each output. The problem I have is that they are all in pairs for L & R. I thought I could just set up SD3 with 1,2…3,4…5,6…and so on. But the interface doesn’t show anything past 1,2,3,4. I then thought well let me just split off left and right,,,with channel 1 being 1L, and channel 2 being 1R. That presents the issue of 2 instuments with 1 fader.
Isn’t there a way to set all the kicks to channel 1, all the snares to channel 2, all the toms to channel 3, and cymbals to channel 4? Why is it turning into an Einstein puzzle? Help me feel less stupid John Rammelt – Toontrack Technical Advisor…
SD3 has way more outputs when enabled so it must be down to VSL the restricted outputs.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
The Presonus 44 just has 4 in 4 out, thats why they call it 44 i guesse. So you have to route kick and snare to channel 1 & 2 and the rest to 3&4.
Do you need the seperate outs for the foh?
