Just so I’m clear on this:
MIDI Packs: provide only standard MIDI files and no additional kits. Works in EZ Drummer, Superior Drummer, and basically any app that can read MIDI
EZX: provides MIDI files and additional kits, but the kits are optimized for EZ Drummer and have less pieces/mics/options/etc (compatible with Superior Drummer)
SDX: provides MIDI files and additional kits, and kits are the fullest available kits and mic setups, specifically for Superior Drummer (not compatible with EZ Drummer)
Have I got this right?
Hi Russell,
looks about right. The MIDI pack files are optimised for Toontrack Instruments and make use of an extended GM map, so other strictly GM instruments may not sound as intended upon playback. Also, other drum VI’s can have their own unique mapping.
EZX:s are indeed both sound libraries with accompanying MIDI libraries that can be read by both EZdrummer 3 and Superior Drummer 3. They also have their own presets, not only with kits but for the  internal mixer.
SDX:s are also both sound libraries and accompanying MIDI with included presets for kits and mixer. SDX:s can only be read by Superior Drummer 3, yes. The MIDI that comes with it, can be read by both EZD3 and SD3.
