I love Superior Drummer 3 and some of its SDX.
However, I feel that some of the SDX lack good quality presets. Sometimes you can find presets on the web that sound better than the stock ones. Some SDX are truly powerful and capable, but to reach their true potential you have to make your own presets.
Making good quality presets takes a lot of time and effort. But it makes a huge difference for us who don’t have the time or knowledge to create our own.
I thought it would be a good idea if Toontrack made it possible to acquire new presets for existing SDX, maybe even multi-SDX presets.
This would be possible in two different ways:
What do you think about this?
Am I the only one who would purchase new presets if possible?
Actually, I already did purchase some presets from third-party websites, so I think Toontrack might be missing a good opportunity here.
I wouldn’t as I prefer to make my own. I may try one now and again and alter it to suite but I wouldn’t pay for them. Saying that I wouldn’t pay for midi packs either as I play my own drums into sd3. I’m sure many would though.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
It would be a no-sale for me here. I don’t use the presets in SD3 as all my mixing is external to the program. I treat SD3 like I do real drums. Granted there are some presets that sound killer but just don’t work for me. Always been a DIY person.
