I’ve run SD3 without the core and only expansions before. I did not delete it though. I did a fresh install and simply excluded the core library, incase the details matter.

You don’t have to install the whole core library. Strictly speaking you only need the program itself and parts 1 and 2. The rest is optional. Although I’d also keep the additional bleed part. You may well want to use some of the stuff in the core library like percussion pieces. I know I do.

Thanks, I mainly just want to get rid of all the core kits and anything else I’m not using. Obviously anything that affects the sound quality of the expansions I’d want to keep.

I don’t think you can get rid of the core kits. You need the program and the first 2 sections of the core library. Try putting your SD3 content on a separate samples drive if you’re that starved for disk space. Part of the way down this page is what you need: https://www.toontrack.com/faq/1311697-2/

Yesterday I had not one single core SD3, of the 5, packages installed. Played all my SDXs and EZXs with no problem on WIn11. Unless there’s a difference with Mac, everyone else is assuming, I’m telling from very recent experience.

The program is not the same as the 5 Sound Library install packages. Program must be installed, and you have Superior Drummer with no sounds. Any SDX/EZX will load right up.

    Hi,

as Shootie writes, you can actually run the SD3 software without the Core library parts installed but you do not only miss the drums but also the SD3 Percussion instruments.

Thanks, I’m fine with that. I only really need my Death and Darkness kits. Can I just remove the core libraries from the product manager?

I’d move them to an external drive so you do t have to download again if you change your mind. Then just go into sd3 and remove them from the paths.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

If going that route why not just move all samples to the external drive? I have all my samples on a drive separate from the system drive. With a fast drive connection you’ll never notice any problems. NVME drive would be the way to go.

I asked a question that you hadn’t answered: are you that starved for drive space?
