EZD has its own notes for cymbal mutes, also called chokes. Look in the Help menu for something to do with Mapping. It will show you the piano roll notes for the kit you have loaded. Once you know the notes for the cymbal muted and unmuted, move the note in the piano roll. Note that this way will play a mute. It won’t mute an earlier cymbal hit.

In standalone. Expand the articulations of the cymbal in the grid editor.

So is there no way to accomplish this in the piano roll of your DAW? I program everything in the DAW itself, but maybe it’s time to just start using the grid editor. Anyways, thank you for the response! It’s much appreciated.

I know which notes are the “choked” hits, but when you put those notes into the piano roll they just choke the hit at a random time, sometimes not at all. I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to actually control the timing of the choke. Thank you for your feedback!

Use the grid editor. I don’t think the choke data can leave EZD.

OR maybe edit the CC data in your DAW. Never tried it though.

If are going to choke a cymbal in EZD3 using your DAW, you need to use channel aftertouch MIDI in your DAW’s timeline. Shown in EZD3, but this will translate to your DAW.
