Hi, I’m using EZdrummer 2 as a soft synth plug in in cakewalk. I’m programming my own beats in the step sequencer and it all works great – until I export the track or freeze the drum track, at which point random notes disappear. They still appear in the step sequencer, just not in the track itself. If I unfreeze the track and then re freeze it the same happens but at a different point in the song – it seems to be random. I’ve just upgraded all of my toontrack software in the hope this would fix it but no good. Please help! Rick.
how many steps are you using in the step sequencer? also, what resolution are you using? (if converting back and forth – more resolution will result in less note merging and less notes removed – e.g. using 1/32 or 1/32t instead of 1/16 or 1/8)

Hey thanks for the ideas…how do you change resolution?? Generally I do 12 steps and 16 beats in my step sequencer patterns.
use the “convert MIDI to step sequence” on your MIDI, it will pop up with the resolution setting. if you’re directly programming your step sequencer (vs dragging in a MIDI clip or converting one), then the resolution is # of beats & steps.

So I’m directly programming my step sequencer…is there a way of increasing the resolution on that?
yes increase the number of beats per step. 🙂 4 beats = 1/4; 8 beats = 1/8; 16 beats = 1/16; etc ultimately you’ll hit the limit on the sequencer and might consider a plugin that “might” go higher. however if you’re doing really detailed stuff – you might have to step out of the sequencer to get there and use the PRV directly on the MIDI track and set the note durations to 1/64th etc in order to get the rolls etc the way you want them.

So I’m not having any luck with changing numbers of beats or steps…strangely the issues are often with tracks that are the most sparse, not at all complicated drum parts. Any other suggestions gratefully received…
what version of Cakewalk are you using? i’m using Cakewalk by Bandlab v2022.11 build 021 64-bit. EZD 3.0.6.
so i might not be able to test the same as i don’t have EZD 2. can you try a different drum VI? and perhaps convert the step sequence into MIDI and see if you can spot something in the PRV indicating extraneous / missing notes?
