Hello everyone. I’ve just started using Superior Drummer seriously and also I’m not a drummer so I’d really appreciate it if some drummer could explain me the differences in playing the Open-Edge and Open-Tip hi-hat articulations and when to use one or the other. Thank you very much.
Open-Edge hit is the sound of hitting the edge of the open hi hat with the meaty part of a drumstick.
Open-tip is hiting the open hi hat with the rounded tip.
The tip sound is “tingier” and includes less wide frequencies in general. usually quieter as well
Open- edge is usually louder and more raucous and rockin’. Open edge has a longer duration as well.
