I have the same problem. I even plugged in simple I IV V midi bass line and piano was gibberish and didn’t recognize chords correctly. Yet to get Bandmate to work in EXDrummer 3.0 or EX Keys 2.01 as expected.

I seem to have a bit of a problem with chord correction.

Example I have some funk grooves that I have selected and the chord names are entirely wrong

Bm7b9add11/D  which is actually a D9 chord which makes more sense because the groove is a simple II V progression  Am7 D9

    This I corrected.

The next example is Em7#5. In reality it is E7#9b13, but, when I try to correctly edit the chord name it comes out as E7#9#5. I realize that #5 and b13 are the same note but they imply two different things.  The #5 is an alteration to the 5th of the chord which is interchaingable with b5.

b13 does not imply any alteration to the 5th of the chord.  If I were righting a chord chart for piano or guitar this would be a consideration on how it should be notated.

I have had other issues trying to indicate correct chord names as well.  Just wondering if anyone else has come across this issue.  Maybe I am missing something.

    Thanks Rich

    Hello There, Greetings from Australia.

First off, I’m using the Piano that comes with EZK2 – a good sign!

The MIDI add-ons are a great resource.

However, the OP and I share the same concern/s about chord input and naming.

I’m not going to repeat the OPs sentiments.

The chord wheel is largely useless if one knows the theory and can read/write music. That’d be me.

A tune’s character has a lot to do with the way the chords are voiced and their voice leading.

All I would like is just a visual virtual keyboard where I can input the voicings/inversions i need for the song in question.

Completely unattached from the Chord Wheel.

The goal here is to have my customized progression superimposed on the RHYTHM only of the MIDI, totally disregarding the note pitches in the pattern, instead using my note organization/voicings.

I’v been doing this with the Piano Roll but it is too fiddley. It’s easier in Logic X.

Also, I’d love to see a basic music notation/readout in a future version. would save a lot of time.

    Cheers. j.
