I’m new. I will always use SD3 w/Logic Pro. I am setting up my kit. When I finish, I can save my settings in Logic as a Template. Do I also have to save the settings in SD3 as a Set Current to Default Project or Save As?
Thank you for your help.
Carlos
Use the Set Current to Default option in SD3. Then when Logic opens the SD3 plugin, it will load your default preset/settings you saved. The save settings option in Logic will load up the plugins, track parameters, layouts, etc. you saved each time you load the template.

Thanked by: Carlos CastilloYou can save the SD3 setting within SD3 to make sure it always opens that specific set up. However, the logic session will always open that same set up regardless of SD3 settings… that is, IF you are using a template that already has a SD3 inside it. If you are selecting a fresh instance of SD3 from within an opened Logic template, then the default state of SD3 will dictate the settings.

Thanked by: Carlos CastilloLogic templates are no different than any other project. As you have discovered any settings and modifications within SD3, and every other plug-in, are saved within the template along with mixer routings. This is handy for when you have various types of song templates requiring different configurations of SD3 as well as anything else you are bound to use within the song. If you are strictly using song templates, saving a default SD3 project may not have much value. The only real value would be is if you are creating a fresh template from scratch and need a common starting point within SD3.
Like you I am often starting off with a song template. I also make use of patches within logic in case I decide to change my mind and use a different SD3 setup. This way, I do not have to go through the trouble of configuring it for the song at hand.
