hi, can i set the tempo of something then, a few bars down i want to change the tempo? can this be done? i’m using Studio One 6.
Where are you putting the MIDI to drive SD3? This would be a perfect reason to put the MIDI in a track in your daw and feed that to SD3. That way it should track your tempo changes.

Thanked by: joey pinter-bilekHi,
If you have “Follow Host” enabled in SD3, you just enter your tempo changes in Studio One. SD3 will follow tempo changes from the host.
If you do Time Signature changes in Studio One and create your drum song MIDI on the SD3 song track, you need to enter the same time signature changes on the SD3 song track as you have enter in Studio One, since this info is not transmitted to plug-ins.
Also, if you plan to use the SD3 internal Bounce feature to get Audio Files per instrument for mixing outside the plug-in, you will need to have the Tempo changes on your SD3 song track as well.
You can export a MIDI file from Studio One and then import the tempo changes from that MIDI file.

John

Thanked by: Scott EshlemanIt doesn’t matter where the midi is. If you’re loading SD3 inside of Studio One as a plugin, simply make your tempo changes in Studio One. SD3 will react to it as long as Follow Host is enabled, which it always is by default. You only need to do Tempo changes in SD3 when you use Standalone mode (no DAW).

Thanked by: joey pinter-bilekI have SD3 loaded as a vst in Reaper. All the tempo and time sig changes are in Reaper, embedded in the project midi (tempo envelope). So it’s as people say, if you have follow host enabled then SD3 will follow the track, although it won’t see the time sigs as far as I know. I use a preset so as to hear what my drums might sound like in a song with processing by an engineer, but run out all my wavs pre-mixer. That way we all send our wavs off effect-free.
If I want to run a kit mp3 or wav out of Reaper, I solo SD3 and render the project. No problem. But if I want to bounce wavs out from SD3 then I have to load the project midi from the Reaper project into SD3, or it will run everything out at the first tempo it sees, which is not helpful in a song with tempo changes. Just about all our songs have tempo changes, so I have to do this for each project. And when you run out wavs in this way btw, turn follow host OFF before you do it, or your wavs will be rogered.
