I’m a happy owner of EZKeys 2 and looking forward to writing songs.
I’ve just watched Michael’s, Writing and Mixing a Song From Scratch – Part 1. What can I say, Amazing!
However, I have a problem and that is I’m not a professional musician and it is obvious that Michael is.
I play the guitar and have a basic working knowledge of music.
My workflow is usually, working on a chord progression and building from there the drums, bass etc for each part.
I would like to do this with EZKeys too and I’m sure that is possible.
Could Michael, or any other user, create a tutorial for Writing and Mixing a Song From Scratch from the basic chord progression? Start simple and build.
As a teacher, I know that it is hard for anyone that has knowledge, or skill to step back to a point when they didn’t and consider the new learners. Have you ever been behind a learner driver and you find yourself going, ‘Come on, put your foot down, what’s he doing, all he’s got to do is…..’ I’m sure you get the picture. We quickly forget what it was like when we were first learning.
Many thanks
I invite you to check out my channel in the meantime. Plenty of EZK vids coming out.

Thanked by: Holger StrunkHi Sharp and thanks for the prompt reply!
Checked out your site and subscribed as a small sort of thanks. Looks interesting and looking forward to checking out, Your First Toontrack Lesson.
I get a distinct feeling that I should be into heavy metal! 😎
Well, the first video… very good 10/10
Some questions:
1. Where’s the next video?
2. Do you always start with drums?
3. Can you combine and build tracks from EZ Keys 2, EZKeys Drummer and EZKeys Bass within EZKeys? I’m assuming that once you have the basic track down, as you did in the video, you can get Keys and Bass to follow. Or do you need to go to the DAW? Hope that makes sense!
4. Do have a complete tutorial using EZ and DAW from start to finished song? Nice and easy like the video!
I’ve got EZKeys 2 and it’s like the other core products now, so that’s a plus.
I’m just messing around at the moment. The Keys do sound a bit OTT and classically orientated, but maybe I’ll find a way to calm that down, or beef it up… if you know what I mean!
Cheers!
Just realised your name is not Sharp… all thou that’s cool… sharp Shootie
Sorry Shaun!

Thanked by: ShootieThank you. My forte is Hard Rock/Metal, but I branch out and it’s not about genre as to workflow. I did Toontrack’s Metal Month last year, a full track start to finish. Checking that out as a potential end-game to workflow might be productive for you since many are presented. As to your OP, at times when doing a full song in 60 minutes, you can’t move slowly covering that much ground. But looking at my channel as a whole, you see that a lot of the areas are broken down in individual subjects.
If you look at the Playlist Page on my channel, you’ll see that I put the simpler videos up front. You may want to check that out and all of your questions would be answered as you take it all in.
Enjoy the journey, it all sticks in your head better with proper pace and vibe as I’m sure you know being a teacher. I believe you mentioned that somewhere.

Thanked by: Richard PageHi Richard,
Thanks for the kind words. This is on my list of things to do. In the meantime take a look a the EZkeys product page. https://www.toontrack.com/product/ezkeys-2/?gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmZejBhC_ARIsAGhCqnfhTHkbG1FN1C9i5RtyTT9jF2LATou37O0MRN-XB0bM7HZVX_GjXjAaAh_3EALw_wcB
The many shorter videos are organized into a flow chart of sorts… either you have an idea for a song and you use this idea with the Bandmate or tap to find, or you don’t have an idea and you start with Suggest chords.
See the attached screen shots showing the parts of the web page that Im referring to.

I think the topic of EQ could also use a focused tutorial, as outlined in this thread: https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/ezkeys-2-bad-sound/page/3/#post-3099139
