Importing sequencer data for an existing track, there are triggers for TWO kick drums, and the reference audio is panned left and right.
We’ve added an extra kick instrument, showing in the top left of the drumkit picture. Setting up the e-drum triggers, and assigning different MIDI triggers is done.
We are
1) struggling to see how to apply panning,
and related,
2) cannot see how to add a mixer channel to separate the sounds.
Hence 3) are there any kits in here with two kick drums?
Most seem to be single kick. Be useful to have a template.
(Note, we have a lot of the SDX but NOT the metal SDX. Hope to find a jazz kit or similar.)
Thanks.
Hi David
You can setup macros to do this, notice that there are 2 sliders for L/R; not a standard panner as we are familiar with
rather it’s a summing panner. With both controls to one side or another it means it sums the signals that were recorded.
Eg. – Snare has mics on left and right side. When doing rim shots the signal will be louder in the mic where you hit the rim.
This “stereo reverse mixer” has everything to do with listening position. throne side or audience side.
With MIDI from SD3 in your daw, and you are listening to your session, you are still getting the drummer’s listening point
(behind the kit), so when you print your stems…
you need to reverse the drum mixer so that you get the audience’s listening position in your final print of your song.
Clear as MUD right !!!
And I’m only talking about one drum.
I have two snares set up in SD3.
This is where I learned the hard way. From pissed off client!
Cheers Ken
