I’ve recently started experiencing some issues with EZD3. These issues were initially happening with a couple of the kits I created, but then other kits I created as well as out-of-the-box kits started to have similar issues. I am using a Roland TD-17KVX kit with EZ Drummer 3 on Windows 10. I use EZD3 as a standalone for practicing and jamming then with Reaper to record to my band’s tracks we’ve been writing. TD-17 module is up to date with version 2, as is EZD3. Reaper is a couple of versions behind as I first noticed an issue with a hi-hat clipping during recording with a certain kit I created. This wasn’t happening in EZD3 by itself, so thinking it was the Reaper update that caused this issue due to timing of the update to issue, I stopped updating Reaper.
The first big problem is the same cymbal on-screen is registering to two separate cymbals on my TD-17 kit. Also, cymbal chokes are registering an extra note behind the initial choke, and at least one kit is crashing a cymbal on at least two tom rims. Interestingly, this doesn’t happen with every kit. The other issue is when saving the pad assignments, I closeout EZD3 and when going back into it, the problem is there again as if I didn’t save them. I tried reinstalling EZD3 and Reaper as well but these issues persist. At first it seemed like these issues were limited to Reaper but it eventually was happening in EZD3 by itself. I reinstalled EZD3 as well as Reaper, only to encounter the same issues again. Today my guitarist came by because he’s very versed in MIDI, and he tried changing some mapping which didn’t help because nothing would still save. We tried uninstalling Reaper and installing Reason and that didn’t help. He uses Steven Slate Drums at home for writing and we tried temporarily installing that, and pad assignments wouldn’t save there either.
All that being said, does anyone have any information or experienced this issue? Part of me wonders if the module update started this mess because other than the initial hi-hat clipping issue that happened after the last Reaper update I allowed, I didn’t have these persistent issues until the TD-17 V2 update. So if it’s not either DAW, and obviously not a pad triggering issue, what could it be? I’ve not found any answers anywhere else except one thread on TT forums that I can’t even access because it’s related to SD3, and because I don’t have the SD3 product I can’t even access that forum for any help! It’s all frustrating because it is slowing up our writing and recording process!!
Any help is greatly appreciated, and if any other info is needed let me know and if I have to I will reach out to my guitarist about what he discovered today as far as MIDI mapping because even though I watched what he was doing it was beyond anything I could remember to do again on my own lol!!
Hi,
first I would perform a Factory Reset on your TD-17 module. Then I would just fire up EZD3 standalone and select the TD-17 MIDI Preset.
If things work as expected there, the next step is to check what happens in your host. If not, report back.
