Hi –
Keyboard player here, I have EZD 3 and love it, and I’m now interested in EZ Bass to help me complete the rhythm section for a Latin-type song I’m writing, with a few questions if anyone has a moment and some insights please 🙂
I would like to create a bare bones/elementary bass tracks by hand in the EZ Bass Grid editor, and then to up the game by adding some awesome articulations. I am (heresy, wait for it) wanting to do it without initially putting in the time to do deep dives into how to create things like harmonics, trills, slaps, and the like. It’s not just a time issue though … not being a bass player, I don’t think I have the “vision” to competently create things like that.
One thought I had for possibly getting sweet sounding articulations on my hand-created track on the Grid Editor would be to:
- Create a bare bones EZ Bass line by hand in my project’s Grid Editor
- Open another instance of EZ Bass and creating a random song there
- Fire up an EBX Sound Expansion (for example, Latin Ballads and/or Latin Jazz) in that second, random project
- Open the Grid Editor of that second, random project, and study how those articulations are chosen artistically and created physically in the EBX Sound Expansion
- Somehow bring the articulations like trills, slaps, harmonics, etc. from the second, random EZ Bass project to the first instance of EZ Bass that contains my actual existing bare bones bass track… maybe even using something as easy as using edit/copy/paste to do so.
Does anyone think this might be a good idea, helping me to learn when/where to use these articulations, and maybe even helping to shave some time off the learning curve for learning how to use these things?
Thanks for any thoughts!
