I now have EZDrummer 3. Sound and options are wonderful.
I used to make dance music using high quality midi files as half playbacks.
From time to time I want to use the EZDrummer 3 in the midi files.
Now a drum track (channel 10) in midi files always has a drum set and percussion instruments.
I also have EZX Latin Percussion so can hear all the instruments.
With the EZDrummer, however, I can hear and edit either a drum set or Latin percussion.
The note numbers of the individual instruments are partly the same.
In GM mode, each instrument (including percussion instruments) has its own note number.
Can I use a drum set and Latin percussion at the same time?
Or do I have to separate the drum track of a midi file into a drum set track and a second track for Latin percussion?
I wish, anywhere can help me. Thanks a lot and musician greetings Peter Bengelmann
Hi,
the standard GM drums & percussion maps are pretty limited in terms of available notes for different articulations of an instrument, therefore Toontrack drums/percussion MIDI files and EZdrummer 3/Superior Drummer 3 instruments utilise an extended GM map. It is compatible with GM but also offers a lot more available notes. This in turn means that it is not possible to have both in one instrument, since the drums & percussion libraries use the same notes.
The practical solution is to use 2 instances of EZD3 in your case. It does not take up particularly more resources than should you have been able to load both drums and percussion in one instance. Especially not if you unload instruments you do not use.
