Just a quick message that explains how to set up mono outputs on superior drummer 3.
I was searching for the way to do this a week or so ago, after i had started to use superior drummer.
Some kind people explained that it was either not possible, and just get use to having stereo outs for each drum mic,
or that the way to get this to work was by ticking an box in the internal settings of superior drummer.
I found the box in the settings but this did not give me an instant fix.
Then it occurred to me that I was missing something, so I started a new project and started again.
And this is where the answer dawned on me. When I added an instance of virtual drummer, I have the choice of
either adding a stereo instance (which is what i was doing) or, alternatively, I could open an instance of superior drummer 3 as L or R channel Mono.
(It doesn’t actually say Mono). When I added an instance as L, Superior Drummer appeared in the mix window as a mono channel.
When i went to the virtual instruments window, i was then able to activate whatever mono outputs that i wanted to use (up to 32) and then
assign the outputs to the various drum feeds in superior drummer 3. Superior Drummer 3 still only shows stereo outputs (which is a bit silly)
but still, if you don’t need all 32 channels, you can always only activate all the odd channels and leave the even numbers.
This would allow you to then assign a drum to up to 16 Mono outputs. This feature is obviously really useful for people who mix engineer,
as they can then add signal processors and effects, add as many sends as they want for each individual drum/out. which i think is a super powerful and useful.
Yippee!
rather than all the extra stuff and bells and whistles.
Anyway, can be done. Hope this helps anyone else searching for a way.
What is ‘virtual drummer’? What daw are you using?
