Hi everyone…I am primarily a guitarist and will write songs using guitar pro (i have version 8) and export the drums and bass into EZ Bass and EZ Drummer. Works perfectly in EZ Drummer, but often the midi being exported by GP does not correspond to the proper notes in EZ Bass and either play with using the audio to MIDI function or manually writing/editing the notes in EZB all over again.
Does anyone else have this issue? I don’t know if this is a problem with GP or EZB specifically or if anyone has a solution/suggestion.
From what I’ve read, there can be an issue if EZB tries to decipher a signal with aggressive distortion, reverb, or other FX. I’d try dragging in the cleanest signal possible.
SD3 3.4, EZK2.1.3, EZ Bass 1.3.1, Win11, i9/9900, all SSDs, 64g RAM, Cakewalk, Studio One
The issue is primarily with interpreting the MIDI being exported from GP and imported into EZB. Its not deciphering midi, its playing the notes directly. But the notes its playing are incorrect.
Possibly try the EZ keys trial, and see how that interprets GP. You can easily drag EZ keys midi output into EZ Bass. Yes, I also noticed EZ bass has trouble interpreting midi. I tried EZ keys, and it was better for me. Unfortunately EZ keys has not been updated in a long time. It would be EXTREMELY helpful if they brought it up to the level of EZ Bass.
The problem I have had with ez bass (actually all bass plugins) is that the notes coming out of guitar pro are an octave low. I add a midi transpose plugin and move all the note up an octave and everything works right. Note: I mostly use loop midi to route midi directly in to my daw (reaper) vs loading midi directly.
I will give this a shot. I haven’t really used EZ bass in a while because of this issue and i really feel like it was a worthless purchase unfortunately…I use EZD all the time and love it.
In Guitar Pro. Select All Notes (for your bass) > Tools > Transpose > Semitones > make it 12 semitones. After you import the midi into EZBass, you could go back to Guitar Pro and hit Undo to bring the original pitch back.
