Do any EZdrummer versions accept the MIDI SysEx “program change” message? I want to control a software drum machine and some guitar modeling hardware from a VST Host “set list” manager like Cantabile or Gig Performer, however, apparently not all MIDI-capable hardware/software products support inbound MIDI SysEx program change messages.
In short, I want the efficiency of selecting pre-existing songs/programs/patches/presets (the terminology varies by product) on all of my MIDI-capable gear from a pre-programmed “set list” on a VST host program.
I’ve searched a couple of EZdrummer user manuals posted on this site, but have yet to find an occurrence of ‘sysex’.
Thanks!
Hi,
first you have to “Allow MIDI Program Change” on the MIDI In/E-drums page.
Next, you select EZX with Bank MSB and Presets with Program Change.

Thanked by: George RobinsonHi John, thanks for your guidance.
I don’t find the terms ‘Program Change’, ‘Bank’ or ‘MSB’ in this online manual:
EZDRUMMER 3 (THIS MANUAL APPLIES TO VERSION 3.0.3 OF EZDRUMMER 3)
https://www.toontrack.com/manual/ezdrummer-3/
Is there supplemental documentation, or are these topics not documented?
Hi,
first go to the ‘MIDI In/E-drums’ page in EZdrummer 3
There you enable ‘Allow MIDI Program Change’
Next, in your DAW (in my screen shots it’s Logic) you create a MIDI region on the EZdrummer 3 Instrument Track at the beginning of your song and create a Bank MSB (CC#00) event set to the EZX in your list you wish to use. If you have 10 EZX:s and wish to use the last, your Bank MSB value would be ‘9’, since it starts from ‘0’.
Then to select the preset, you add a Program Change event. In my case, I wanted the 16th preset, so I entered ’15’.
I hope this helps,
John
