hello, I’m trying to rough in drum parts with a midi keyboard with drum pads, then open it into the grid editor in my daw(reaper) to adjust it/add on.
I start by making a ezdrummer track, arming it then recording. I have gotten sound to come through but can not open into the grid editor.
I’ve seen YouTube video with this kind of process where they finger drum in a rough beat and then can open the midi into the grid editor of their daw and edit it.
Any help and guidance on this process and how to do it properly is appreciated.
This is really a workflow preference.
My preference would be to record the performance in EZD3, by arming the Song Track and recording there, and use EZD3’s Grid editor, since it can preform some humanizing tasks that your DAW cannot.
Another workflow could be arming the “EZD3 Track” in reaper, and record your performance to the Reaper track. Then simply open the performance in Reaper’s Piano Roll (you call this Grid Editor).
Your explanation, the best I can interpret it, recording into EZD3 and being able to go to Reaper’s Piano Roll fluently is not possible. The midi must leave EZD3 in order to do that. ***You could simply drag the Midi out of EZD3 into your Reaper Track as well.
